In late 2022, the Foreign Policy and Defence Program launched a new series of Defence Industry Roundtables tackling key challenges to defence industry and technology cooperation between Australia and the United States. This initiative convenes defence industry professionals, subject matter experts, and former and current officials from Australia and the United States to exchange views on key obstacles to and opportunities for advancing defence industrial and technology cooperation within the Alliance context, including through the AUKUS partnership and other instruments like the US National Technology and Industrial Base (NTIB). Each roundtable has featured guest speakers with deep knowledge and familiarity with the Australian and US defence industry ecosystems, including senior Australian government officials, former senior US officials, experienced defence industry representatives, and leading experts on defence industrial issues.
